Prize Giving 2015

The Annual Prize Giving Function of MCGS was held from the 5th to the 7th of November, 2015. It kicked off on the 5th with the inauguration of the various exhibitions by parents of the outgoing school captain showcasing the efforts from students from all classes. This year’s theme was “LIGHT” and various societies, departments and clubs displayed projects, presentations, artworks and information on the same.

The exhibition was followed by the outstanding Horse Show put by our riders and consisted of events like Dressage, Tent Pegging, Fancy Dress and many more. They were given encouragement and support by CHIEF GUEST and by his inspiring words.

After this was the much awaited Annual Sports Day, a myriad combination and display of discipline, coordination and sportsmanship. The Sports Day began with the march past by the NCC and various House Squads. The girls also put up a spectacular Karate, Yoga and Drill performance. The Chief Guest for the occasion Mr. Gajendar Singh Khimsar, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Rajasthan then addressed the gathering and awarded prizes to girls who excelled in various sports.

The last event of the day was the Variety Entertainment Programme in which students from both the senior as well as the junior section put up a display of their cultural endeavors. The programme encompassed of an array of cultural pieces like Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Odissi , Contemporary and Tribal Dance. The junior girls also recited , “ Daffodils “a poem by William Wordsworth and acted in a mime on water conservation. The spectacular show ended with a fabulous Finale Dance by the girls of calluses 4th, 5th and 6th.

 The second day of the Prize Giving Function consisted of the Main Entertainments Programme where in the girls performed a play called Tamsorma .  The play portrayed Draupadi as the seeker of light. The play was directed by professional playwright and director Mr. Parnab Mukherjee and proved to be a grand success. This was followed by a Principal’s Dinner for the parents and students.

The third day comprised of the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony. We had the privilege of having Mr. Arun Jaitley Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs, Information and Broadcasting, Government of India as the Chief Guest for the celebration. He handed over various prizes for academic excellence and individual merits to a number of our girls. The Best House Trophy was bagged by Meera House and the Spirit of Mayo trophy was awarded to Saumya Singh.  Mr. Jaitley also reminded us of the hard work we need to put in this age of cut-throat competition.

Overall the Annual Prize Giving celebration proved to be a great success and celebrated the talent and originality of each of our girls.
