Best practices by MCGS
Today I attended the session on ‘Best Practices’ at Mayo College. Stow Club. Monali gave a presentation on the topic ‘Concrete to Abstract’. Her dynamic teaching methodology was nicely explained of keeping the students think and come prepared for the next class and learn the concepts through self-introspection. Her presentation was highly appreciated and she answered all the queries raised by the audience. The staff who attended the session were
Rashmi, Juhi, Abha, Yashika, Madhavi Jamwal, Smita Chaudhury, Aakansha, Shradha, Vice Principal and Myself.
Director Kulkarni Sir spoke about the need for changes in teaching technique.
1. Time bound- Punctuality and preparation for classes
2. Create excitement to learn among children through beyond classroom, campuses, exchange programs, alumni mentorship, lectures or workshop within faculty.
3.To achieve positive changes in students through attitudes, academic behavior and approachable nature(closeness)
4. Achieving success through small attainable goals which boost morale and self esteem of the child. This way the student is self- driven to gain knowledge.
Presentation was also given by
English faculty of Mayo College on teaching through collaborative activities such as enactment, TV interviews, chartmaking, Quiz, self composed finale.
Mayoor school had presented simulation activities in Physics using combination of online and offline activities as best practices.
The session was totally enriching experience for all of us. Juhi will be presenting next time.
We also must have such presentation at the faculty level to share teaching practices. Hope we all can take time and initiate to do so to improve the standards of teaching.
Warm Regards,
Vasumathy
