Domestic Cultural Exchange (Virtual)
Mayo College Girls’ School participated in a 5-day Domestic Cultural Exchange (Virtual) with Jodhamal Public School, Jammu, in collaboration with AFS India. A delegation of 16 students from class VIII of our school participated in the Exchange which was held from 26th -30th April, 2021. The student delegation of both the schools were from the same age bracket and participated enthusiastically in this exchange of cultures, cuisines, history, art and craft, theatre and authors of their respective states through various power-point presentation and performances, both recorded and live.
The members of Mayo College Girls’ School delegation were- Manaswini Mertiya, Dia Goyal, Amanat Kaur Pannu, Chhavi Singh, Jashvi Beriwal, Ahana Mehta, Aarna Goyal, Aarna Jaiswal, Aarna Punit Kohli, Deveshi Sharma, Abhilasha Majumdar, Yashnita Nambiar, Krishanshi Bhartia, Jivika Nishant Gupta, Priyal Kapoor and Sera Golecha.
The participants put their best foot forward and amazed their exchange delegation with mesmerizing folk dance, music and drama performances. The student delegation from Jodhamal Public School made Rajasthani cuisines and performed Rajasthani dances. They directed a short film based on the story of Rani Padmavati as well, which brought chills to everyone present in the meeting. The delegation of Mayo College Girls’ School also attempted making Kashmiri cuisines and performed Kashmiri dances that turned out to be beautifully successful. The student delegation of both the schools went out of their comfort zone willing to make their Exchange friends feel welcomed and at home.The Exchange was spread across five days where the delegations of both schools shared detailed information on one or two aspects of their respective states every day.
This Domestic Cultural Exchange was a novel and elevating experience for the entire student delegation of Mayo College Girls’ School, Ajmer. The delegation from Jodhamal Public School, Jammu also contributed evidently in making this exchange an extraordinary and memorable learning experience for the students of both the schools the memories of which will be cherished by everyone for years to come.
The purpose of the Domestic Cultural Exchange was to bring together the students of two schools from two different states together and give them an opportunity to share each other’s culture and history and create a strong bond by respecting the two cultures. It is heartening to share that the purpose was accomplished.
