The students of class VI were taken to a local farm on the 19th of January, 2020 for an educational trip. This was an opportunity to identify several aspects of agriculture which they are learning in the Geography Syllabus of Class VI. They had a firsthand experience on identifying the Rabi food crops – Wheat and Barley and the seasonal vegetables and crops like Onions, Carrots, Garlic, Peas, and Mustard. They witnessed irrigation of fields through the drip and sprinkler methods which emphasize on conserving water and were also explained why wells have been replaced by the tube wells.
They learnt and enhanced their knowledge on concepts of Green house, Organic farming and Mixed farming. They realized how important it is for our farmers to undertake mixed farming and understand its benefits. Besides this, they saw our native cows and its breed. They were also taken to a Rural Milk Collection Centre.
They enjoyed the snacks and had fun on the farm swings. It was an enriching learning experience for our students.
