Income tax Workshop
On July 19, 2019 a workshop was organized by the commerce and economics department on income tax for the students of classes SC and Pre SC commerce on the occasion of 159th Income Tax Day. We summoned the assistant joint commissioner of the income tax department, Ajmer along with an income tax inspector who gave us a reality check on the present scenario of the tax payers and return filers. The numbers are as low as 5% of the total population of the country who file their returns. They made the youth aware of the global position of the country in paying taxes. There are countries, upto 98% of whose population pay taxes honestly and responsibly. They briefed us about the scrutiny process and how the obsolete methods are being replaces by the modern and more advanced technology. The assistant joint commissioner of income tax department guided us about the career opportunities as an Indian Revenue Services Officer.
On July 20, 2019, our girls visited the income tax office in Ajmer and met the commissioner of the income tax department. This was the first visit made by our students to a government office. Here we got the insights of the hierarchal structure of the officers and the various departments such as investigation department, assessment department, the staff rooms etc. Our students had a Q&A session with the officers where they gained information about the process of the income tax raids and NRI tax. This workshop was a great experience for the students as it was very informative and was a great field activity for practical knowledge of income tax. We want to thank our principal, ma’am KanchanKhandke and our commerce and economics department teachers, ma’am Poonam Bhargava, ma’am MadhabiGopalan and ma’am Aditi Sharma for helping us gain this unforgettable experience.
