Silver Jubilee Commemorative Young Thinkers’ Conclave 2019, Quiz

“Education is not just about going to school and getting a degree. It’s about widening your knowledge and absorbing the truth about life.”

The general quiz, a much awaited event of the Silver Jubilee Commemorative Young Thinkers’ Conclave, serves to reiterate the essence of the aforementioned statement. It is challenging yet engrossing and enhances the students’ practical understanding of a variety of subjects and reinforces what Newton said about seeming only like a boy playing on the sea-shore, and diverting himself in “now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered” before him.

Twenty four teams comprising three members each battled it out in a preliminary round structured by the acclaimed Knowledge Resource Curator, Mr. Parnab Mukherjee, on 28th August, 2019. Seven teams made it to the final round that was conducted by Mr. Mukherjee in the evening.

Mr. Mukherjee, in his inimitable style, kept the quizzards and the audience engrossed with his questions and topics that ranged from Hindi bhajans to Giuseppe Maria Garibaldi, the Italian general and nationalist.

The team from B.K.Birla Centre for Education, Pune emerged as the champions with DAV Public School, Hazaribagh and St. Michael’s School, Siliguri as the runner up and second runner up respectively. Trophies, certificates and books were awarded to the winners. There were much coveted prizes for the Best Quizzard, the Most Promising Quizzard and the Best Audience Answer.
