Surat Trip

The commerce students received a marvelous opportunity to visit the production hub of our country, Surat. They were escorted by Ma’am Poonam Bhargava and Ma’am Aditi Sharma who served as amazing mentors in acquainting the students with the various aspects of business and marketing. We reached the next morning and all our tiredness was washed away by the cleanliness and the weather of Surat. Our first day was one of the most enriching days as we visited the Kiran Diamond factory which left us spell bound. We have ever since known diamond to be the King of all gems, but little did we know a small piece of diamond goes through such a tremendous process. Each method was shown to us with due interest and we assimilated every bit of information by asking our queries and widening our knowledge on diamonds. Later that afternoon, we visited the Sumul milk factory. It’s a big unit of processing milk and other dairy products of AMUL in Surat. Our day ended on a very authentic note as we had the famous Gujrati Thali which we relished to the last bite.

The following day was equally fun as we visited a denim factory- Anubha Industry, where we got to know how a yarn of cotton is turned to the denim wear through several processes like rope dying, weaving, sizing etc. Then we visited the textile industry where we saw different stages of tie and dye and printing. We were really fascinated by the block printing done on sarees. After having lunch, we visited the Priyagold biscuit factory where we saw how from fine flour a biscuit is made. We also tasted the freshly baked biscuits.

The last day was a fun-filled day as we first took a nature walk near Gavier lake which was immensely rejuvenating. We then visited VR mall which was altogether an exhilarating experience. In the evening, we boarded the train back to Ajmer.

The trip was a perfect conglomeration of exuberance and knowledge. We would like to thank Ma’am Kanchan for giving us the opportunity to visit Surat. We would also thank our teacher escorts for their constant guidance and support.
