MCGSMUN’ 21
Opening Ceremony
Today witnessed the Opening Ceremony of the 9th edition and first-ever virtual Mayo College Girls’ School Model United Nations Conference (MCGSMUN) where the secretariat and the executive board of each committee were introduced. This year, the event will witness participants from 17 schools and over 150 delegates in the MUN. The delegates are divided into 6 committees covering a variety of pertinent issues. This year’s Conference aims at inciting hope and igniting passions by emphasising on the theme: ‘Curing a Conundrum to actively work towards change’.
The Opening Ceremony was graced by Lt. General Jasbir Singh Lidder, UYSM, AVSM(Retd.) as the Chief Guest. He has extensive experience in International Relations, Conflict Management (including Sub-Conventional Conflict), Mediation, Peacekeeping and Peace building. Sir has also served for over 40 years in the Indian Army, rising to the rank of Three Star General, who encouraged and inspired us by his thoughts, with experience in both political and military spheres. We look forward to the next three days of the MCGSMUN Conference.
Closing Ceremony
Mayo College Girls’ School Model United Nations Conference 2021 came to a close with the Valedictory Ceremony on 11th September,2021. The Ceremony began with a short video diary summarising the past 2 days and the organisation process.
Our Chief Guest for this ceremony was Mr Neeraj Kumar(Retd.). Mr Kumar is an established IPS officer, whose last assignment was as the Commissioner of Police , Delhi . In his tenure, Mr Kumar has cracked several high profile cases in his tenure and is the author of two books namely ” Dial D for Don ” and “Khakhi Files” that discuss his journey and encounters. Mr Kumar delivered a stimulating speech, after which we had an interactive session talking about his experiences and opinions on present conundrums.
The interactive session was followed by the declaration of results. Each committee’s Executive Board was given the virtual floor to give an overview and announce their winners. The award for the best delegation was won by Welham Boys’ School, Dehradun. The Secretary-General of MCGSMUN 2021, Triloka Shah declared the Conference closed.
