MUN COORDINATOR'S MESSAGE

UNITING FOR PEACE

In his recent visit to India the U.S President Barack Obama made a meaningful comment, "We are strongest when we see the inherent dignity in everybody."Every being has an innate right to be valued and to receive ethical treatment.

Peace suggests sincere attempts at reconciliation, the existence of healthy interpersonal or international relationships, and prosperity in matters of social or economic welfare. It aims at the establishment of equality and a working political order that serves the true interests of all.

Peace is like fresh dew drops. Quietness and absorption bring the dew. It will never gather while there is either heat or wind. The temperature must fall, the wind must cease, and the air must come to a point of coolness and rest -absolute rest. Dew denotes the multiplication of truth from good and the fruitification of good through truth. The idea of dew drops comes up frequently in Yeat's poetry as an agent of creative imagination through which beauty, defined by existence, the unity of being, peace, harmony, eternity and the sublimation of art, is attainable and by which means he perceives the mystery of spiritual forces that abound in the heart of the universe. I implore the youth to come forward and create a serene environment in order to embrace peace.

"No individual has sufficient experience, enough education, native ability and knowledge to ensure the accumulation of a great fortune, without the cooperation of other people"-Napoleon Hill.

Peace and war begin at home. If we truly want peace in the world let us begin by loving one another in our own families. If we want to spread joy, we need that every family should have joy.

Today, nations put too much money and effort defending their borders. These nations know very little about the poverty and suffering that exist in the world. If they would only defend these defenseless people with food, shelter and clothing, I think the world would be a happier place. We can all do small things, with great love and together we can do something wonderful as peacemakers like Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, U Thant, Betty Williams, Muhammad Ali and Jane Addams did.

In this MCGSMUN 2015 let us resolve to adopt the Acheson Plan again, after 65 years –"Uniting for peace"
